INEC Announces Date for 2023 General Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the date for the 2023 general elections.

Prof Mahmood Yakubu, the commission’s chairman, made the announcement at a one-day public hearing on Wednesday convened by the Senate Committee on INEC on the National Electoral Offences Commission (Establishment) Bill 2021.

According to Mahmood Yakubu, the general elections are one year, nine months, two weeks, and six days away, or 660 days from the declaration date, necessitating planning.

He mentioned that the elections will take place on Saturday, February 18, and that the full schedule will be released before the end of the year.
