The Zamfara State House of Assembly has suspended two legislators for alleged ties to bandits who have been wreaking havoc across the state.
Ibrahim T. Tukur, who represents Bakura, and Yusuf Muhammad, Anka, who represents Anka, are among the Legislators who have been suspended.
The move, according to Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, the Assembly’s Director-General of Press Affairs and Public Relations, was made to allow the Assembly to undertake a proper inquiry into the claims lodged against them.
“These are part of the resolutions reached just now at the House plenary presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya under matters of urgent public importance,”
“They are also to appear before the House Committee on ethics and privileges in conjunction with security agencies that are assigned by law to investigate them, Kaura said.
